Priorities and Organization

I have been the secretary/admin assistant for a new church plant since February. I have had the opportunity to make this position into what I feel our church is needing. It is overwhelming at times as I'm not sure what the most important duties should be as far as organizing and maintaining our records, communications, social media and all else that I do. I also run the office from home, as we do not have a permanent office location. What would you consider to be the highest priority in maintaining and running a church "office".(no permanent location) I do not have to handle any finances, so that is not an issue. Thank you!

Congratulations Esther on your new church and position as Church Secretary/Admin. Assistant! You are very blessed to not have finances in your job description. :)
Personally, I would consider pastoral respect and organization as the two top priorities in maintaining and running a church office. By stating pastoral respect I mean most church secretaries work closely with their Senior Pastor(s) and from someone like me who has been taught from a very young age to respect her elders and especially her spiritual leaders this has to be top priority or I would not have this job. No matter what I have on my To-Do-List for the day if my Pastor calls me with an errand I drop everything to help him if at all possible.
Second priority has to be organization in my office because I cannot work in an office (whether office in my home or office at church) that every job task has be done the hard way or I'm more confused when I finished then when I started or I'm having to do double work and wasting my time.
Keep your office organized by continually finding ways to make your job more efficient by using programs such as Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access...to organize your office. Each of these programs have free online training and they are not that hard to learn. I create most of my forms in MS Word (love it) and all my databases in MS Access (love it).
