Secretary coming into an unorganized overwhelming office.

by Brenda
(Belgrade, MN, US)

I am a Secretary coming into an unorganized overwhelming office, where do I start getting answers and who should I ask for help? This is an office with two separate small churches with one pastor between them, records have not been kept up properly, the pastor is overwhelmed and over the last few years there have been several secretaries. Could you tell me, when there are two churches with one secretary, what the responsibilities of each congregation should be as far as their own record keeping goes, what the pastor's responsibility is, the number of hours that a secretary should put in and the amount of pay she should receive. One church has a congregation of 300 and the other has 130, I would appreciate any solutions or comments, thank you.

Wow!

The only thing I could tell you at this point is each church would have to maintain separate accounting records.

You need to consult a CPA on setting this up because of the legalities of each church.

Remember I do have Shepherdbase (an affordable church membership database) that will help track your memberships and their contributions and more for both of your churches. You can download it as many times as want and it doesn't have any security on it. Just click the link on top left hand side of screen (navigation bar) "Shepherdbase".

God Bless You,
