I just recently added the Thanksgiving Thankful November Notes where you and your family can write thankful notes in each day of the month of November stating what you are thankful for each day and then on Thanksgiving Day you can pull these notes out and read them around the Thanksgiving table. These notes can also be used for your Sunday School children at church.

Handling Contributions

Accurately tracking and managing contributions is a must for any nonprofit organization.

Charitable contribution deduction rules changed with the passing of the Pension Protection Act in 2006.

Before then, you could use your check registers or personal notations as documentation. Now all donations must have proof of the deductions.

As stated above that proof may be either a bank record or a donation receipt. A bank record for this record-keeping requirement include bank or credit union statements, canceled checks, or credit card statements.

They must show the date paid or posted, the name of the charity, and the amount of the payment.

A donor cannot claim a tax deduction for any single contribution of $250 or more unless the donor obtains a contemporaneous, written acknowledgment of the contribution from the recipient organization. (IRS Publication 1771)
