This Sample Request Letter below for a Clergy Badge is what your church administrative office needs when they attempt to obtain the clergy badge from the hospital. This Pastor Clergy Badge allows the Pastor and/or Ministers to enter the hospital and visit church members and/or patients who might have requested a minister without any questions asked.
The majority of hospitals will need or require a Pastor Clergy Badge mostly for security reasons, etc. to identify the clergy before they enter the hospital rooms to visit and pray with the patients.
Some hospitals are different in what they need for you to able to access a clergy badge but most of them will need this requesting clergy badge letter I have attached below. Your church can download, modify it to fit your church needs and print and sign it for your local hospitals.
The hospitals in almost every area of the United States welcome clergy and value their ministry. The are normally committed to providing comprehensive medical care to their patients, and they recognize the importance of the spiritual as well as the medical needs of the patients in the healing process. Some patients don't have very many family members visiting so the visit from the clergy is almost always very well received and welcomed.
The hospitals ask their patients their religious preference when they go through the admission process. When the patient requests a visit from either their Pastor or an available minister, the hospital has policies and procedures set up that most usually includes that person(s) only wearing a Clergy Badge can access the hospital room(s) to visit their church member or a patient who requests a minister.
You must submit this request letter for a Clergy Badge on church letterhead stating that you are serving the congregation in this capacity. The letter should be signed by the congregation's lay leader for all clergy, or by the Pastor for lay ministers.
