If you work in the Human Resources department for a church or any organization then the first thing you would want in your hands is an organization chart like the sample on the right. The reason for this is because it tells you who does what, who they report to, what their function is, and do they have any real authority.
If you want to ever succeed in your church or organization then an organization chart is very critical to have. When you think about it everyone loves structure and organization where everything can fall into place easily without confusion entering into the process.
Depending on the size of your church an organization chart may not be necessary. For example, if you only have three people on your church staff then you would not need one most likely but if you have a large staff of volunteers then it might be helpful.
Organization and structure is the two main purposes for this chart and provides:
- Organization to the effort
- Clearing establishing who is the central leader
- Divides tasks according to a job function
- Provides structure of the chain of command
Many churches have seen great missions completely lost from the lack of organization in the church. A lot of times they might have a large group of volunteers willing to help but sometimes the right hand would not know what the left hand was doing so to speak. So whether you have employees of volunteers be sure to have an organization chart to keep everyone completely organized and everything running smoothly.
