Labor Day is a federal holiday in the United States celebrated on the first Monday in September to honor and recognize the American labor movement and the works and contributions of laborers to the development and achievements of the United States.
The activities in our local town includes the Labor Day Parade, Games, Fireworks and more. I always enjoy Labor Day.

Remember Labor Day is the first Monday in September every day in the U.S.
And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. Colossians 3: 23-24
Labor Day originated during the labor union movements of the 1800s as a way to celebrate the social and economic advancements of the United States and pay tribute to the driving force of our economy-the American laborer.
Labor Day Activities for Kids:
“When I Grow Up”
Ask the kids to draw pictures of themselves doing what they want to do when they grow up. If the child’s writing skills are more developed, ask them to write a sentence about the picture or a paragraph explaining why they are interested in that career.
Let each child present his/her drawing to the class. Post all pictures on a wall of the classroom to form a career goals “quilt”. Invite Pastor, parents, and/or other classes to come look at the student’s work.
Apple Walk Game
With this Labor Day activity for kids, apples are not just for eating. It is a relay race that will have you working up an appetite!
Need:
- Apples
- 2 Large Empty Buckets
This is a relay race for 2 teams. For each team, set an empty bucket 20 feet away from the players. The first player on each team puts n apple between his/her knees, runs or walks to the bucket and drops it in.
The first player then picks up the apple and runs back to hand it to the next player. That player (2nd) must do the same thing the first player did, and so on until everyone has had a turn. The first team to finish wins the game. Make sure you have plenty of apples to snack on – after all that hard labor, you’re going to be hungry!
